Scallop-Shaped Card with Butterflies from Cricut Art Philosophy

I made this card almost completely with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. It was for my swap card for our team meeting. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures before the meeting so I took these mediocre photos at the last minute after swapping.

We were to use the Florentine paper pack, so I used a couple of the patterned papers with twilight and colonial white cardstock. I stamped the larger butterfly with a background stamp from Universal Backgrounds in cocoa ink. (You seriously need this set...I use it ALL the time.) A little bronze glitz glitter gel gave this butterfly a sparkly finishing touch.

Even the card base was cut on the Cricut. But here's a secret...I didn't use the scallop-shaped base. I used a regular circle card base. Then I cut out the scallop shape to adhere to the front of the circle card. I do this because when you cut out a shaped card on the Cricut, one of the sides is just straight. This way the scallop goes all the way around. (I learned this trick from Stephanie Baldwin, who, by the way, inspired this card.)

To purchase the Art Philosophy collection (or any of the other supplies I used), shop on my CTMH website.

Happy Birthday Accordian Flower & Pretty Pins Card

I created this little cutie for my sister's birthday. The paper is My Mind's Eye Honey Cake...one of those 6x6 paper pads. I like those paper pads for cards because the patterns are a smaller scale. Plus they're inexpensive, yet still feed my addiction to pretty paper :)

This pinwheel was a pre-made embellishment from American Crafts (it was a gift...normally I create these pinwheels myself) ;) I took off the button that came on it and added that pretty bling button. I also added some pearl and bling pins, which are stuck right into the 3D foam behind the pinwheel.

Get a FREE Stamp Set!
The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from a retired set, but CTMH has a couple awesome birthday sets. And right now through the end of June you can get a FREE stamp set when you purchase two sets. I love a good stamp sale. :) Plus I will pay your shipping on orders over $99. Details >

Bridal Shower Invitations - Red, Black & White with Chevron Ribbon

I've found a new love: making invitations. I've created/posted invitations here before, but it's not until more recently, since I've been more serious about my Etsy shop and making a "living" by crafting for others, that I have been approached to create invitations for my friends and family. Obviously they're like making cards and involve paper so of course I'd enjoy it, but it also combines my love of paper with my love of graphic design. It's a match made in heaven!

These invitations were for a family friend's bridal shower. The wedding colors are black and white with red accents, which can be pretty formal, but we didn't want the bridal shower to come off so formal. I think using a limited amount of black and that FABULOUS chevron ribbon from Paper Source helped achieve the desired result.
I also used some bitty sparkles from CTMH to add a little extra something special.

The most important part is that Lisa loved them. And that makes me happy :)

The cardstock is from Paper Source. I love their cover paper (cardstock) because it's very high quality and REALLY heavy. I also love using CTMH cardstock for invitations, but sometimes I need it quick and can't order it to arrive fast enough.

If you need invitations for your next bridal shower, wedding, baby shower, birthday party, or any other celebrations, let me know! I'd love to work with you to create something that captures the style you envision for your event :) Email me.

Thanks for stopping by...happy crafting!

Gabriel's {What's in a Frame} - Blues, Greens, Browns With Pennants

You may recognize this design from Max's frame. I had originally designed Max's so that the frame would look good with such a short name, but the result was a new frame style that I absolutely adore. Don't you love when that happens?

Gabriel's mom and dad loved it too, so they ordered one for him. His room has these same blue and green colors with fish accents, so I incorporated them into the frame. Cute, huh?

I traced the chipboard letters onto cocoa cardstock, then cut them out with my micro-tip scissors. I then stamped each letter with the Universal Backgrounds stamp set from CTMH for some added texture and tied hemp around a few of the letters. (Have I mentioned how much I love background stamps? You can do so much with them!)

To cut the fish, I found some clip art, printed it and cut it out, then traced and cut it out of cardstock and inked around the edges. I also added some buttons and milepost shapes (corrugated cardboard) from CTMH.

I mixed paper from CTMH (sand and green w/ dots are from Footloose) and DCWV (trees, stripes, plaid from the Green Stack). The blue cardstock is CTMH Pacifica and the green cardstock is Clover from Paper Source.

I hope you are inspired to make some home decor of your own!

Black & White Wedding Button Boutonnieres

Here are my latest button boutonnieres. I love black and white, it's so classy...

These were really fun to make. The groom's boutonniere has 2 more flowers than the others so it's more special :) They were made with a mixture of CTMH, vintage, Recollections, and some misc. buttons I found at a variety of stores. I am always on the hunt for fun buttons!

Here are all 10. Each is a little different. I love handmade, each one is unique and made with lots of care and love :)

If you or someone you know is interested in custom button boutonnieres for a wedding or special event, visit my Etsy shop. I can create them any color you'd like!

You can see all the wedding creations I've posted on my blog HERE. You'll find more boutonnieres, bridal bouquets, invitations for showers and weddings, {What's in a Frame} decor, and more :)

Abigail's {What's in a Frame} - Girly Jungle Theme

I created this {What's in a Frame} THREE years ago, but I just finished it last month! I had given it to a friend for her baby shower but they weren't revealing the name of the baby until she was born, so I couldn't add the name yet. She just told me how many spaces to leave for letters. Well, I moved away and whenever we'd visit we'd meet at coffee shops, so I never got around to adding Abby's name. Well, last month, their family visited us in Seattle from SoCal and my friend BROUGHT the frame with her! Awesome! I'm so excited I could finally finish this decor for Abby's room :)

Canary Yellow & Tan Button Boutonnieres

I received a Button Boutonniere Etsy order from a bride who is getting married on a beach in Mexico...how fun!! Her bridesmaids' dresses are canary yellow and the men's suits are tan...what a perfect color combo...sand and sun! I had fun picking out buttons and flower embellishments for her. Some of the buttons are made of coconut!

I used a variety of buttons..the white flowers, clear, and glitter buttons (from Bohemian Assortment) are from CTMH. The rest are from Joann's and I got a couple in a pack from Paper Source.

Aren't they fun?! They're a little tricky to make, though, with the wire and making sure the "bouquet" for flowers are held together just right.

If you or someone you know might be interested in them for your wedding, check out my Etsy shop!

Here's what the Bohemian Assortment looks like...lots of fun buttons and doily flowers in it!

Corset Card - Black & White with Pops of Red

A family friend is getting married in July and her bridal shower is today. I couldn't go, but wanted to send a card for her. The wedding colors are black and white with some red, so here's what I came up with.

I decided on a corset card because the designer challenge at Practical Scrappers the other day was to use eyelets or brads in your project. I rarely use eyelets but I've corset cards around and decided it would be perfect for the bridal shower card.

Once I decided to create a corset card, I searched Pinterest and found this one I liked, then just put my spin on it! Unfortunately I got the holes for the eyelets a little crooked on top, but I'm sure she won't mind!

The black and white glittered paper is from an old DCWV stack. It's not my favorite but it fit the bill. :) I used my handy dandy Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to cut the mini tag and a retired CTMH stamp set called Love Language.

Some of My Favorite CTMH Stamp Sets

Since Stampaganza is going on, I thought I'd share some of my favorite CTMH stamp sets with you. It's hard for me to only choose a select few, but I tried to choose a variety of themes and occasions. Remember, when you buy 2 stamp sets, you get 1 FREE...only in June! Shop now >

Click on any set to take you to my shopping website, where you can see prices, larger images, and more info.

This first set, Fashionista, is just plain fun. It's trendy and girly and has lots of fun options.
Fashionista

I was SOOOO excited with this Trinity Alphabet set came out in the last catalog. There are 3 font sizes, so if you only got one alphabet set, this would be a great choice. The large letters are big enough for scrapbook titles, and then there are medium and small sizes for subtitles, cards, and more. This set is the biggest size CTMH carries...it comes on an 8.5"x11" carrier sheet. You can see some scrapbook layouts I made using this set HERE and HERE.

Trinity Alphabet

I think I also squealed when this next set, Card Word Puzzle, came out in the current Idea Book. Not only are the flowers and butterfly beautiful, but it also comes with words to spell just about any card sentiment you'd ever need! Plus it coordinates with the oh-so-popular Pemberley paper pack. You can see some cards I made using this set HERE and HERE.
Under the Sea is really fun for summer-themed cards. It has some clever sentiments to go along with each sea creature.
Under the Sea

I just adore this baby-themed set, New Arrival. I am excited to make some cute baby cards, and eventually baby announcements (not yet!) with it. Plus lots of the shapes coordinate with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (see the outlined shapes).
New Arrival

Just a Number has some witty and smart-Alec birthday sentiments. Love it.
Just a Number

This next set, 4 My Friend is a great all-purpose set to have. If you only invest in a few sets, this is a must-have, as it covers most card sentiments you'd need.
4 My Friend

You've probably seen this set several times on my blog. It's one of a few go-to sets for me lately. I love flowers, and I love the flexibility of this set to make the petals any color you want with different inks. Plus the flower coordinates with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, which makes my life easier :)

You can see a card and watch a video I made using this set to create a card from start to finish HERE.
Just for You

Ok, here's another go-to...I just LOVE the swirls in this set. This set is another one I'd recommend if you only invest in a few sets...it has swirls, some basic shapes, and several sentiments. Plus a few of the shapes coordinate with Art Philosophy. You can see some items I made with this set HERE and HERE and HERE (to name a few).
Love Life

Paper Lantern is super fun for summer! Lanterns are really popular right now and I love the variety in this set. You can see a Valentine card I made with it HERE.
Paper Lantern

This might be my most-used set right now. I know I keep saying some of these are my go-to, but this set fits so many types of cards. You really can't go wrong with flowers (if you're not making a masculine card), and I love how these flowers layer so nicely. Plus, a huge perk for me is that they coordinate with Art Philosophy! You can see some cards I made with it HERE and HERE.
Hooray Bouquet

Kick Back is a great set for scrapbooking your summer vacation or creating fun summer-themed cards.
Kick Back

Last but not least, if you have boys or need to make cards for boys (or men), this is a must-have set. It's just so fun! See a card I made with it HERE, with the coordinating Superhero paper pack.
Super Powers

Cute Little 3x3 Thank-You Cards

I recently made a bunch of 3x3 thank-you cards to replenish my supply...here are a few of them. I tried to represent several of CTMH's current paper packs. (I didn't add the "thanks" sentiment on some of them yet in case I use them for another occasion.)
Lucy Card
Footloose Card
