Olivia's Polar Bear {What's in a Frame} Personalized Name Decor

If you are a fan of my Facebook page, you may have seen me tease about the {What's in a Frame} projects I've completed lately! I made 5 of them in the past month and am finally editing my photos. The photos just never do the frames justice, though! I wish you could see them in real life.

Here is the framed artwork I made for Olivia. My friend Kerin orders one of my frames for all of her friends who have babies. Well, Olivia is not a baby, but her little sister Riley got a cute frame, and Mom, Dad & sister love it so much that Kerin ordered one for big sister. AND, they just got ANOTHER little sister, so I'll be sharing hers in my next post :)

Olivia's room is polar bears (obviously). I found these cute digital images on Etsy (here). I resized and printed them onto glossy photo paper and carefully trimmed them out. They are adhered with 3D foam tape for some dimension.

I didn't use any patterned paper for this's all stamped cardstock! This is what I do to create the look of patterned paper, but you have more control of the colors.

I used the Love Life stamp set from CTMH for the swirls and the dots are from a new stamp company called Mama Elephant. I've gotta say, they have some super cute stamps, but the quality just doesn't compare to CTMH MyAcrylix stamps!

Some pretty CTMH buttons (my favorite), sparkles, and lacy trim added just the right amount of detail. Love.

Sneak Peek & Pre-Order Special for Dream Pop - Bright Birthday Card

This week's challenge at Heart 2 Heart is "Bake me a Cake." I thought that was a "gimme" for a birthday project :) I always need birthday cards, and I liked this design so much (inspired by this card), that I actually got an assembly line going and created lots of them. I kept a few for myself and also used them for my Dream Pop Swap card with my PNW team swap :)

What's Dream Pop, you ask? Well, it's only the brightest, most fun paper I've set my eyes on in a while! It's CTMH's special paper packet for National Scrapbooking Month in May. I'll tell you how you can score your packet at the bottom.

Without further adieu, here is my birthday card...

Aren't the colors and patterns gorgeous? Just wait til you see them close up below...

I love bright colors, especially for birthday cards. But since the colors are all so bright in this pack I wanted to add a dark neutral color to tame them a bit, so I added some black accents in cardstock, ink, and black shimmer trim (which also comes in silver...LOVE this self-adhesive ribbon!). The stamp sets I used are retired (sorry!) They are called Piece of Cake and Happy Birthday. But there's another great and versatile birthday stamp set called Joyful Birthday.

I used CTMH's alcohol markers to color...Cotton Candy, Sorbet, and Juniper (they are a close match, although the colors in this paper are brand new colors just for this special!). I added some glitz glitter gel to the cherries and a rhinestone to the cake stand for some extra sparkle.

You have the rest of the month to link up your cake or cupcake project at Heart 2 Heart. We'd love to see what you come up with!

Now onto Dream Pop!
This exclusive paper packet is only available in May, and it's only $10 with a $35 CTMH purchase from me! Here's what this dreamy paper looks like...

Take a look at my video to see these beautiful papers close up...

Gotta have it, right? You only have a week until you can order it.

Right now, in April, I'm having my NO TAX & FREE SHIPPING sale! If you pre-order your Dream Pop paper pack in April, I'll give you my special deal on Dream Pop! (Min. $50 order, 48 lower states, AK & HI receive discounted shipping.) See all sale details >

Email me your order to jaymalew [at] gmail [dot] com by April 30 and I'll give you FREE SHIPPING & NO TAX! I'll send you a Paypal invoice for the total and I'll place your order on May 1.

Dream Pop is $10 with a $35 purchase. But remember, to get my special sale you must place a minimum $50 order. You also qualify for the Stamp of the Month for just $5 more with your $50 purchase (April or May SOTM, depending on when your order is placed. Dream Pop orders will be placed in May).

Cute Little 3" x 3" Petite Perks Cards

When I moved to Seatte, I found a wonderful group of CTMH ladies, led by Michele Rowley, who have adopted me as one of their own team members. I attend their monthly meetings and am so blessed to have gotten to know them! Since my team is spread all over the country, I do not hold my own in-person meetings, but They have also welcomed my local downline Norhalma who attends Michele's meetings. I just love CTMH and the wonderful hearts of other Consultants!

Anyway, at February's meeting we had a fun card workshop. Everyone created a card with an upcoming Stamp of the Month and prepped all the pieces for everyone to make their own. We rotated around the table at Tracie's house to create each person's card.

I will share each of them all with you eventually, but I'm starting with Michele's.

Michele created 3 cute little 3"x3" cards using the current Petite Perks stamp set. And the greatest part is she used all scraps that she had left over from another project. Cricut cuts and all....they were the negative space from another cut! I just love 3x3 cards.

Design by Michele Rowley

This Petite Perks stamp set is not available for purchase if you are not a Consultant, but you can get one for FREE from me! Ask me how :)

You will also get this set in the New Consultant Kit. You can sign up as a Consultant for only $49 and this month you also get the 4 upcoming Stamp of the Month sets for FREE! More info  >

My Card Was Featured by Stacey Julian!

Last month was CTMH's album retreat in Salt Lake City. I wasn't able to go, but I found out from several of my friends who did attend, that my artwork was featured on the big screen!

Stacy Julian was the key note speaker, and she shared my photo during the retreat when she was talking about inspiration. Here's a photo that Bren took and shared with me :)

And here's my original artwork. This was a card I created for my mom for Mother's Day last year, using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. See the original post >

Ooooh, I just love all that bling!

Have a happy day!

Winning Bridal Shower Invitation - Lavender, Gray & Lace

Not too long ago I shared with you THIS bridal shower invitation using CTMH products. However, the lavender color that CTMH has just didn't quite match the bride's colors. And the Cricut-cut doily didn't have the same vintage feel as a real lacy doily.

So here it is, the final invitation...

I really LOVE this look. My customer saw THIS invitation in my Etsy shop and wanted a different accent color and rhinestone sparkles instead of pearls.

Here are the bridesmaids dresses she needed to match (amazing, right?!).

The only bummer about making the doily invitations? When the bride's colors includes ivory instead of bright white. I have searched far and wide for ivory doilies. They don't exist. I even tried dip-dying my own, but I couldn't get the right color. So, I had to resort to the laborious method I've used in the past...use a sponge dauber with Colonial White pigment ink to change the color. It does take a while, especially when you have dozens to do, but it really is worth it in the end. I just wish there was a better way! (Wilton, please come out with ivory doilies...thank you!)

I ended up using a color called Milled Lavender from Tim Holtz's Distress Collection for the lavender paper. The gray is Gravel from Paper Source. I love to use Paper Source cardstock for the base of invitations for a couple of reasons. 1) You can buy it already cut to size. You pay a little more...but if you have a ton to make it's totally worth time and saves your paper trimmer's blade. 2) Their cardstock is VERY heavy really makes a difference in a nice invitation. This is, after all, the first look that your guests get of your event! I like Paper Source's envelopes, too...they're very nice quality. (Hey, I think Paper Source should pay me for these plugs!)

If you would like to purchase invitations from me, you can visit my Etsy shop :)

Juniper Color Dare

This week's challenge over at Color My Heart is to use Juniper. You can also add neutral colors to your project. I am always inspired by my friend Amie's projects for Color My Heart...she's on their awesome Design Team!

My card was inspired by one of my team members, Sandra, for the design, and the birds were inspired by THIS post on Jeanette Lynton's blog. I love being inspired by others' talented artwork and translating it into my own project!

The stamp set is Hello Tweety. It's one of my favorites in the new catalog, and even better, it's only $9.95! Along with the bird and other fun images, there are several useful sentiments, too. The Juniper paper is from an old paper kit called Veranda. That was some beautiful paper. I stamped the birds on Kraft cardstock in Colonial White pigment ink. And the lacy border is from a Martha Stewart border punch.

Here's what Hello Tweety looks like in all its glory...

Raindrops Keep Falling

This week's challenge at Heart 2 Heart couldn't hit more close to home. The rain in Seattle is never-ending.

Last weekend we had an AMAZING, sunny, warm Easter weekend. Upper 60s, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. It actually felt like Spring.

Then this week...BAM...the rain and gloom was back. Such a tease!

So for my card this week I created a representation of how I feel here in the Emerald City. With a Space Needle to boot! (For local peeps...I got that cool stamp at Impress Stamps.) Notice the sun is peeking in the corner, but the clouds are covering it. So, so sad :( I was inspired by this card that I originally saw on Pinterest for the raindrop buttons.

I used the super-cute April Stamp of the Month, My Sunshine (only $5 with a $50 purchase), and paired it with the Artiste Cricut cartridge. This stamp set has several shapes that coordinate with Artiste, including the sun. I also cut out the clouds with it.

I inked 2 of the clouds with Crystal Blue and then Slate, and one of the clouds with Twilight and then slate, to give that sort of gloomy look.

To make sure the raindrop lines were straight, I lined up a ruler and used my thin-tipped ZIG black pen, which I normally use for scrapbook journaling. All of the buttons come from our fabulous Blue button assortment. I seriously LOVE our get SO many in really cool designs for just $5.95. Have you been button shopping at the craft store? Cool buttons are so expensive!!

See that sparkly grass? One nice thing about lots of rain is that everything is very green. So I took a strip of silver shimmer trim and colored it with a Topiary alcohol marker. Our new alcohol markers work great for coloring all sorts of things!

Then I took my Martha Stewart fringe scissors and cut blades of grass along the top half of the glitter strip. The best part of the shimmer trim is that it's self-adhesive! LOVE it!!! So I was just careful when I adhered it to the card and carefully peeled back some of the "blades" of grass for dimension.

Speaking of dimension, I also put the smallest cloud and center of the sun on 3D foam for extra dimension.

The blue background paper is from the new Surf's Up paper pack, and the base of the card is on CTMH Slate for the gloomy look. Don't want to waste your pretty patterned paper for a thin border? See my paper-saving tip HERE.
