How to Use Cricut Craft Room

I know a lot of you are Cricut users, so I want to make sure you all know about Cricut Craft Room. I have mentioned it here before, when I posted about my Advent Calendar (CCR was a life-saver!). But I wanted to share again because it really is a powerful tool to use along with your Cricut, and it's FREE!

Here's a great video that CTMH created for us to show you a few things you can do with CCR, and a little tutorial on how to do them.

I have a feeling CTMH will be posting more CCR tutorials, so I'll be sure to post them as they do.

In the meantime, go ahead and create your free account on Cricut.com and download the design software. When you get to the website, here's what you do:

Once you download the software, you can create everything right from your computer, then just connect your Cricut to your computer when you're ready to cut! There are also several tutorials on Cricut's website, and of course, playing around and figuring things out on your own is always fun, too.

If you do not have the Art Philosophy or Artiste Cricut collections from CTMH yet...trust me, you definitely want them! They each have approx. 700 cuts on them...they're the most comprehensive cartridges out there! Most of my customers who buy one collections end up emailing to say "I can't believe how much is on it...now I need the other!" :)

FREE SHIPPING ON CRICUT COLLECTIONS
I offer FREE Shipping on the collections, so be sure to contact me if you would like one: jaymalew [at] gmail [dot] com or purchase right from my blog's Cricut pages: Art Philosophy | Artiste.

Plus, if you order over $150 in product, you will qualify for Hostess Rewards! A $150 order gets $25 in freebies and a $250 order gets $40 in freebies...and it goes up from there...PLUS I'll still give you free shipping. Email me for details: jaymalew [at] gmail [dot] com

Happy Cricuting!

Slate Gray & Lavender Bridal Shower Invitations with Artiste Cricut Cartridge

This week's challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is "Love is in the air." It's no secret I LOVE creating invitations...and these bridal shower invitations fit the challenge perfectly. This is one of the variations I made for a recent Etsy customer. Her wedding is gray and dusty lavender/pink, and she loved the Pearls & Lace invitations in my shop here.

I always give my customers several color choices before finalizing and mass-producing their invitations. This is not the color combo she chose, but I just love how it turned out and it may be perfect for someone else! (I'll share the winner when I finish them.)

The ribbon is our Slate satin polka-dot ribbon, which I cut in half lengthwise. So that the raw edge wouldn't fray, I VERY quickly singed  the edges with a lighter. Don't do it more than a split second or it will turn brown and crusty, and the ribbon will ruffle too much.

I used all CTMH products for this invitation (unfortunately we don't have the right color purple for her). The base is Slate. The lavender accent is Petal, and the doily is Colonial White. I cut the doily using my Cricut Artiste cartridge. (I seriously don't know what I'd do without that cartridge or the Art Philosophy! They are constantly life-savers in my custom designs!)

I designed the invitation info in InDesign and printed it from my computer onto Colonial White cardstock.

If you'd like to play along this week at Heart 2 Heart, simply link up your project with the theme "love is in the air" to the bottom of THIS post. You have until the end of February to play along...and at the end of the month we'll choose the top 10 designers from the whole month!

Even if you don't want to play along, you can check out the other Design Team's projects...they're all amazing :)

Last Monogram Card Set - October Afternoon

I loved this Ocober Afternoon Woodland Park paper the moment I set my eyes on it. I was going to buy a few single sheets, but ended up needing the whole collection, so I bought the 8x8 paper pack. I made 2 of these same note card sets for 2 different people as Christmas gifts.

I apologize for the less-than-perfect photos. I forgot to take photos after making them so I took them after she opened them in the horrible living room lighting ;)

The 2 in this first photo use my favorite papers. I just love the colors.

And I think the green ad blue here is so striking.

I used the fabulous Monogram stamp from CTMH again, as well as the Perfect Fit--Frames stamp set. LOVE these together! There's also a new Perfect Fit--Frames 2 stamp set you can get now, too, since this first one was such a big hit!

You can see the other 2 monogram card sets I made HERE and HERE.

3x3 Valentine Cards

I'm a bit behind on posting. These cute and simple little 3x3 cards are for last week's Heart 2 Heart challenge...all that glitters! I used CTMH's fabulous new glitter paper. It's the perfect glitter paper...small flecks so it's easy to cut...it really cuts like butter! If you want to use it in your Cricut, I'd put the glitter side face-down on the mat so the blade goes through the back of the paper.

The stamps are from last month's Whooo's Your Valentine kit special. The bottom half of each card is stamped with background stamps, and the focal images are on 3D foam to pop out. I used a 1/4" corner chomper to round the corners on the square.

This week's challenge at H2H is Home Decor projects...link up your projects HERE! You have the whole month to enter any of the Feb. challenges :)
