The Best Moms... Hanging Canvas

Happy Mother's Day to all of you awesome moms out there! Today is my first Mother's Day as a mom, and I feel like the luckiest, most blessed mom in the world to have my little squirt! I have always admired and appreciated my mom, but it's not until about 8 months ago, when I myself became a mom, that I could truly understand just how awesome she really is! And she's been doing it for over 30 years! This job ain't easy, but it's the best, most rewarding, and fulfilling one. :) I'm sure all you mamas can relate. I love you, Mom!!!

I thought today would be appropriate to share this little canvas that I made for my Mother-in-Law, who is an equally awesome mom to her 3 kids, super mother-in-law, and amazing new grandma! You can see the Bracket Frame I already shared with this same sentiment for my mom HERE.

I love this sentiment, I saw it on Pinterest when I was pregnant and knew instantly that I'd use it for my mom and mother-in-law. I gave these to them last year before the little bambino was born. The font I used is fun: Boring Showers from Kevin and Amanda. (They have lots of fun scrapbooking fonts, you should check them out!) I printed it onto White Daisy cardstock and then cut to a size I liked.

I began with a flat canvas...the kind that's wrapped around a board instead of wood so it's flatter. Then I painted the perimeter with acrylic paint.

I used simple embellishments because I really love this background paper and wanted it to make the statement without overwhelming the sentiment. The paper is from the DCWV Blue Citrus stack, and you can't tell but there's some glitter in the design. (I must say, I am falling in love with so many of DCWV's stacks lately!) The flowers are Recollections and I used one of my all-time favorite CTMH embellishments, a rhinestone brad, for the center. I adhered it with hot glue for a good stick.

I used a DCWV sticky-back cork sheet and a coordinating pattern from the Blue Citrus stack to back the sentiment. The blue paper is adhered on 3D foam tape for added dimension. For the burlap tie, I pulled apart some CTMH burlap ribbon into individual strands so I'd get the rustic look, but didn't want it too heavy. Then I simply knotted it.

I added a burlap hanger as well so she can hang this little canvas. I didn't get a good picture of the hanger, but I used lots of hot glue on the back to get it to stay.

Thanks for reading, and Happy Mother's Day! You moms are all rock stars, I hope your day is awesome!

So beautiful, Jayma! I have had my eye on that cork for a while. And I love that your paper has some sparkle, of course! Every detail works so well from the painted edge to the font! :) Happy Mother's Day!
