Flashback Friday: Teacher Appreciation Gift

Hello, and happy FRIDAY!!! I don't know about you, but this has been a long week, and I am very excited that the weekend is just around the corner.

Your kids are probably already finished with school, but for those of you who may need a last-minute little teacher gift, this might help! I made this flashback project last year for Teacher Appreciation Week.

This little pillow box was made using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (page 28) and is the perfect size for a little treat. I also made a matching 3" x 3" card with the same layered flower, both use the retired Dream Pop paper...I just love these bright colors!

The flowers were also cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge. (If you have a Cricut, it's a must-have cartridge for sure!)  I had just used some burlap ribbon for a different project, so I used some of the fibers I pulled from it to wrap around the pillow box for added texture.

I inked the edges of the flowers in Archival Ink first for the pillow box, but I didn't really like it, so I left them plain for the card. I used a pearl badge button (retired) for the flower centers.

Have a wonderful weekend!

John Deere Tractor {What's in a Frame} Nursery Decor

I'm back with another {What's in a Frame} to share with you. I've made a similar John Deere Nursery Décor frame in the past, but a different name. It's always fun to see it again! I really love how this turned out. You are not going to believe what I used to make the tire tracks!

Here's a nice close-up of the tracks. Ready to hear what they're made from? Iron-on fusion webbing curtains! I got curtains from Ikea and they come super long, so they give you this fusion webbing to cut to length and "hem" them. But why would I use it to hem my curtains when I could use it for crafting?! :) To adhere it, I wrapped it around the back of the squares and taped it in place.

James' name is cut with the font on the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I stamped tone-on-tone for a subtle look while still adding some visual interest. The yellow squares are stamped with Sunny Yellow ink using the grid from CTMH Noted Backgrounds (retired), and the polka dots are with Topiary ink using the CTMH Hit the Spot stamp set (retired).

Thanks for looking, have a great day!

Pink, Purple & Glittery Princess Baby Girl Initial Monogram

I don't think I could have gotten this letter more girly if I tried...and that's what Sandra wanted when she ordered it from me!

I LOVE creating these monogram initial letters. They are 12" paper mache letters. The first one I ever made was for my baby Kailyn's nursery, and since posting, I've been asked to have it published in Cricut's Home Décor magazine (for an issue coming this summer), plus my Etsy shop has kept me busy with custom orders for it. *blush* So...I have lots of them to share down the road.

All of the letters I have made showcase those gorgeous 3D flowers as the focal point (from the Art Philosophy cartridge). But Sandra wanted it extra girly...a princess crown, butterflies, and lots of bling and glitter! I even tucked some feathers in there. So fun!

I cut the butterflies and a crown out of silver glitter paper with my Cricut. The butterflies are also on the Art Philosophy cartridge and the crown is on the Artiste cartridge.

Here's a close-up of those glittery butterflies. I used DCWV glitter paper. It's a brighter & finer glitter grain than CTMH's glitter paper (which I also LOVE). The rhinestone swirls are from CTMH's Clear Sparkles Flourishes. I LOVE these. They are a good value and they are easy to cut if you just need a portion of the flourish for your project. They also keep their form well as you're applying. I got another brand of flourishes and it was nearly impossible to apply them to my project because they were flopping all over!

I also used purple DCWV glitter paper on the sides and the polka dot paper on the front is from Doodlebug. It's the perfect BRIGHT shade of pink!

Here's what it looks like hanging in her soon-to-be-born baby girl's nursery :)

I'd love to hear what you think!

Thanks for looking!

This Makes Me Smile Photo Birthday Card

My sister's birthday was a couple of weeks ago. Since I couldn't be with her, I decided to make her a special photo card, so that at least we were together on the card! :)

She loves gold, so I used one of DCWV's stacks, Gilded Paper. I tied in some gold glitter tape, I believe from American Crafts.

That fabulous feather vellum paper is from CTMH's Free to be Me paper pack that was available in May. I hope you stocked up on that paper...I love it all! I couldn't find my vellum adhesive anywhere, so unfortunately you can kind of see my adhesive under the vellum. I'd better get some more vellum adhesive because I plan to use this paper again and again!
The cute stamp is from a CTMH hostess-only stamp set called Enjoy the Little Things. It is one stamp, but I inked it in 2 colors. First I was careful to put Pacifica ink on only the text part, then stamped it. Then I cleaned it well and inked up only the arrows in Smoothie ink and stamped them. Since the stamps are clear it was easy to line it up!

If you host a party or place an order of $150, you can get this stamp set for only $6!! Let me know if you are going to do that so I can set it up for you!

Here's the whole set...

Happy stamping!

100% of Father's Day Card Guide Profits Going to Adoption Fund!

Hello!

I am over-the-moon EXCITED for my friends Andrew and Amy. A year an a half ago they came home from Russia with two ADORABLE kiddos. Kids who had lived in an orphanage their entire life—malnourished, starved for love and affection, in need of a forever family. After a long adoption process, these sweet children were able to go home with their new family, just ONE MONTH before Russia closed its doors to adoption with the US. Talk about timing!

Guess what?! Andrew and Amy have decided to adopt another child—a little girl! From Africa!

They have told their story much better than I can:

It's amazing to see the transformation of their beautiful, happy kids, and get a glimpse at Andrew and Amy's incredible hearts!

$5 Helps Bring Their Girl Home
Traveling to Africa and the whole adoption process is incredibly expensive, and I would love to help them reach their goal.

I am donationg 100% of the profits from my Father's Day Card Guide to their Adoption fund. Since my card guide is a download, it is already almost 100% profit (less my Etsy/Paypal fees), so when you buy the guide for only $5, most of your money is going to helping bring this sweet girl to her forever home!

Think of it this way: Donate $5 to the Adoption Fund, and get my guide to make these adorable Father's Day BBQ Apron cards as a bonus! :)
