Scrapbook Walkthrough: First Year Scrapbook Album-in-Progress

I'm starting a new video series of scrapbook walkthrough videos. Although I try, I don't always get around to posting every layout on my blog. Plus sometimes it's fun to see them on video instead of just in still photos, so I thought I'd share all of my albums that I'm currently working on.

Today I'm starting with my daughter's "First Year Scrapbook." This is all of the scrapbook layouts and pocket pages that I've created so far for my daughter's first year baby book. This is a scrapbook-in-progress so it's not complete, but is a good start!

Watch the video below or HERE on YouTube.

Let me know if you have questions or would like to see anything close-up.

Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel! I'm trying to post at least one video per week and will be posting more in this Scrapbook Walkthrough series.

Thanks for watching!

Halloween Blog Hop: Pocket Scrapbook Layouts

Today my Blog Hops with Heart friends and I have some fun Halloween projects to share with you! You may have come from Kelly's blog. If not, continue on and you'll make your way in a circle to see everyone's projects.

Today I am sharing two pocket scrapbook layouts using photos from Fall 2015.

This first layout is from the pumpkin patch. We have a GREAT farm up the road from us that does a great job in the fall with hayrides to the pumpkin patch, corn mazes, yummy food, etc.
My daughter had just turned 2 and it was her first time going to the pumpkin patch and picking out her pumpkin.  My husband's parents (Mimi and Papa) were in town from San Diego and got to join us for all the fun, which was very special for them.
One of my favorite ways to embellish pocket pages (and traditional layouts) is with wood veneers. I backed these word bubble veneers with coordinating paper so there is a little pop of color showing through. I also like to add my embellishments on TOP of the page protectors.

I made my own "Project Life"/pocket page cards with regular patterned paper. I like how the striped paper tied in all the bright colors from my daughter's jacket.
I love CTMH's flip flaps! You can use them on traditional 12x12 layouts or they work perfectly on pocket pages. They come in multiple sizes, here I used the 3"x4" one. I often have a hard time deciding which photo to use if there are several similar ones. I don't want to necessarily "feature" all of them, but the flip flaps allow me to still include them.
I feel like I should also note here that the flip flaps are made of the same high-quality material as CTMH's memory protectors. I LOVE their memory protectors - they are truly the best I've found on the market. They're nice and sturdy and a true 12x12 size.

Here's a look at the full 2-page layout.

This next layout is a 1-page layout. I used the same paper and colors for our Halloween trick-or-treating photos. (I forget the manufacturers of the paper but it was from last year.)

I love this jeweled ladybug. I got it from Hobby Lobby quite some time ago and finally got to use it!

I used the same Halloween paper as a title for this layout as well. The little tiny ladybugs are by Jolee's Boutique. I had a bunch left over from when I decorated my daughter's nursery, which was/is a garden/bug theme. :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Now head on over to Stephanie's blog to see what masterpiece she came up with. Be sure to hop all the way around - these ladies are all so very talented!

Although there is not a video for these layouts, I have been creating lots of videos lately. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel!

Watercolor & Heat Embossed Feathers Card + Process Video

I am sure I'm not the only one who is not ready to let go of summer. Here in the PNW, our summer didn't come until July and I am just not ready for fall yet! But, with kids back in school, back-to-school colds cycling through our family, and the sun setting earlier, fall is slowly creeping into my summer mindset :)

So for this card I wanted to use bright and cheery colors that had just a *hint* of fall. I think this does the trick.

Here's my process video, and more still shots and descriptions are below. (If you like this video, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel!)

I can't get enough of this September stamp of the month from Close to my Heart. That feather makes me swoon! I'm also really digging the black Nuvo drops.
I have been having so much fun with watercoloring lately, as you may have noticed. I love that it doesn't have to be perfect to look amazing. I watercolored first with my Gansai Tambi watercolors, then stamped the feathers with Versamark Ink and embossed with silver embossing powder.

I cut the Thanks die-cut 3 times and glued them all together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte for a more 3D look. Then I coated it with CTMH's shimmer brush (like Wink of Stella). Isn't that sparkle amazing? It shows up really well on black. The Thanks die I used from CTMH is retired now, but I also like Lawn Fawn's Scripty Thanks die.

Here's a look at the Stamp of the month set. The best part is it's only $5 with a $50 purchase!

My Daughter's Trolls 4th Birthday Party

My daughter's Trolls party was a few weeks ago and I made most everything, so I thought I would share with you in case any of you are planning a Trolls party - it seems to be a popular theme!

This was so much fun to plan and decorate - there's so much you can do with rainbows without spending a lot of money. I found a lot of inspiration on Pinterest and put my own spin on it. Here's my Trolls Party Ideas Pinterest Board if you'd like to take a look.

Kailyn's Rainbow Tutu was only $10 on Amazon, and I found the t-shirt at Target. One thing to note about the tutu is that each color of fabric is a separate piece, it's not a solid skirt. Plus it's see-thru. So my daughter had to wear another tutu under this (or your child could wear shorts, but my DD refuses to wear anything but skirts and dresses!). But she loved it! She wore this exact outfit, troll hair and all, to Costco the other day. She got quite a bit of attention.

I made her Princess Poppy headband as well as a headband for every child. The kids LOVED them. I made a plain black one (Branch) for the only boy (besides my tike) and he was just tickled to have a boy one.

TROLL HAIR HEADBAND TIPS: I watched a few tutorials on YouTube but found that if I tied 2 pieces of tulle per knot onto the headband alternated with 1 piece of tulle, it was nice and full. (Tying 2 strands across the whole thing was too full and tying just one strand per knot was not full enough.) I tied 9-10 knots per headband. Each strand was 20". I cut the flowers from felt with a Sizzix die I already had (similar to this), hot glued them together and added a flower or rhinestone in the middle, then hot glued them onto the tulle. I found the colorful fabric-covered headbands at Dollar Tree, 6 for $1.

The rainbow backdrop was made with $1 plastic tablecloths from Walmart. Dollar Tree also had some tablecloths but I didn't like the color selection - and Walmart was the same price. I hung white balloons at the top as clouds. I used push pins to hold everything up - bunched up the tablecloths and held them up with 3 push pins each. This was so easy and I feel it was the most impactful decor. It looked nice behind the snack table and also made a great photo backdrop.

I used my Cricut Explore to make the "HUGTIME" banner; the Bubblegum font was free on I cut out letters using my Cricut machine, each in a different color, and glued them to ribbon. The cardstock I used was from Close to my Heart in the Adventure color palette - Raspberry, Lemon, Willow, and Pacifica. I really like how CTMH cardstock cuts on the Cricut.

With the felt that I already had out for the Troll Hair headbands, I also made Hug Timers for each child. These were easy and a huge hit for all ages - even my little dude pictured below. He loved having a bracelet like the big kids :) I used the same felt flowers and hot glued them onto a strip of felt and added a velcro closure.

For the cupcakes, I found some inspiration options on Pinterest and my daughter chose this one. My mom made them and they were fairly easy. The toppings were light blue frosting, white frosting, and Airheads Extreme rainbow (found this at Walmart or available on Amazon). My mom noted that it was troublesome to keep the rainbow licorice arched...the frosting was pretty runny and it would slide flat. So either make sure you have a frosting that has some stability or you may need to cut the rainbows shorter than you think, like we did. But they still looked adorable!

Last but not least, I made shirts for my hubby and me. If you haven't seen Trolls, you may not get my shirt, but having seen the movie more than I'd like to admit, I thought it was hilarious and my daughter thought it was funny. I also used my Cricut to cut iron-on vinyl (HTV) onto inexpensive shirts I got at Walmart. The Cyan and Gold Glitter HTV are Cricut brand Iron-On, the pink holographic is Siser Easyweed. I *think* THIS is the same one on Amazon.

Most importantly, my daughter and her friends had a BLAST!! (So did the adults, especially my hubby!) Since it was hot out, we had lots of water activities: slip-n-slide that went into a kiddie pool, squirt guns, a Little Tikes slide that went into the kiddie pool (my kids LOVE this slide and use it with the pool all summer long). It was so much fun and all of the bright decor made it that much happier. I know it made for one excited little 4-year-old. :)

Please leave a comment to let me know what you think and let me know if you have any questions!

I also made her a Trolls birthday card. You can see that post and process video HERE.

Masculine Cricut Card: University of Oregon (or your team)!

Since today is the official start of Oregon football, I thought I'd share this card I made for my hubby. It was actually his Father's Day card, but I forgot to share it until now :)

It was super simple to make. I used CTMH's Artfully Sent Cricut Collection (which is retired, but still available HERE while supplies last). The entire 5"x7" base of the card was cut with this cartridge. So it's actually 10" x 7" because it cuts the front/back and does the score line. I lined the inside of the lattice with white paper for a simple black/white base.

I got this "O" sticker from a local craft store - I put it on foam dots to give it some dimension then stuck it right on the card. That's it - easy peasy and he appreciated it :) You could use any team for this card!

I just love this Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge. It's one of my very favorites because it makes cards so easy yet impressive. It wasn't one of the more popular Cricut collections for some reason but I highly recommend it! Especially if you use Design Space - there is so much customization that can be done with the cuts.
