Video: WPlus9 Modern Peonies Heat Embossed & Watercolored Card

Today I have a watercolor card and video tutorial to share with you.

I was playing around with my new Modern Peonies stamp set from WPlus9, and some shimmer watercolors from Hobby Lobby. These are not my favorite watercolors but it was fun to experiment with something different from my Gansai Tambi watercolors.

Here's the video, and below it are more photos.

The gold glitter gems are so pretty! I seem to be using them a lot lately.

It's really hard to see the shimmer in the photos, but it's there and it's really pretty, I promise! ;)

I hope you enjoyed! Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Blog Hop: "Working Hard" Half Marathon Scrapbook Page

Hello there!
It's time for another blog hop with my Blog Hops With Heart girls! This month's theme is "Working Hard or Hardly Working." I chose to go with "Working Hard."

This past spring my hubby participated in his first half marathon with a group of friends. They all worked VERY hard to train for it and complete it...and he finished even with a hurt knee. I am so proud of him! I created this page to document his efforts.
The title of my page came from the shirts they had made. He and his group of friends all work for the University of Oregon Athletics and the new football coach, Willie Taggart, had recently been announced. One of Coach Taggart's sayings is "Have a great day...if you want to!" So they had shirts made that said "Have a great half" on the front and "if you want to" on the back. I thought that was very clever :)
The "run" die-cut is from Scrap Your Trip. I squealed a little bit when I found the YOU ARE AWESOME paper in my stash. It's from a paper pad, I think either from MAMBI or DCWV.
Love this pic of my daughter walking with him after the race :)

I hope you enjoyed my scrapbook page, thanks for stopping by!

Next on the hop is Katy. Be sure to hop all the way through for some truly amazing inspiration. I tell ya, I'm so lucky to be amid such talent!

I have been posting new videos to my YouTube channel so be sure to check it out and Subscribe! I started a new "Scrapbook Walk-Through series where I go thru my scrapbooks page-by-page so you can see them close-up. Here's the playlist for it.

Have a great day!

Video Tutorial: Wooden Coffee Plaque Using Cricut & Vinyl as Stencil

Today I am sharing a wooden plaque that I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday. She showed me a photo she took of a sign in a coffee shop in Europe, which inspired this plaque for her! Keep scrolling for the video tutorial or view on YouTube HERE.

I found the wooden plaque at Michaels. It's about 10" x 10" and was nice quality yet inexpensive. Here are some photos and a little info on how I designed the cut file (not in the video), then hop on down for the video tutorial below.

To make my stencil, I added a 10"x10" square to my design mat in Cricut Design Space and then spaced out the text boxes to where I liked them. I found the coffee mug as an svg file on Etsy HERE. I cut the file on Oracal 631 removable vinyl so that I could get a nice sticky stencil but it would remove easily. I know some people use Glad Press-n-seal but I have a lot of Oracal 631 and I wanted to be sure I had a nice seal. I haven't tested the Press-n-seal and didn't think it would seal as nicely on wood. (It would probably be great on fabric.)

I tested a couple of ways of removing the vinyl: 1. Heat setting the paint just slightly so it was dry to the touch, then removing the vinyl. 2. Removing the vinyl while the paint was still wet. I had heard of people doing it both ways, and I preferred drying it to the touch first. It was less messy and I did not experience any noticeable left from the paint.

I wanted the heart to stand out a little bit and have some dimension. So I used red cardstock and then covered it with Nuvo Crystal Drops for a fun shiny finish.

Here is my video tutorial...you can watch below or in HD on YouTube HERE. Enjoy!

Scrapbook Walkthrough: Year 2 Scrapbook Album-in-Progress for Baby Girl

This is the 2nd video in my Scrapbook Walk-through series. See Year 1 HERE. Although I try, I don't always get around to posting every layout on my blog. Plus sometimes it's fun to see them on video instead of just in still photos, so I thought I'd share all of my albums that I'm currently working on.

I like to mix 12x12 scrapbook layouts and pocket page layouts (Project Life/Picture My Life). This is not a complete album but I wanted to share what I have completed with you.

Watch the video below or HERE on YouTube.

This is from my daughter's "Year 2 Scrapbook." I recently finally decided how to organize my scrapbooks:
  • Year 1 is from birth through 1st birthday for my daughter (first born)
  • Year 2 is the remainder of the year (Aug-Dec 2014) from first birthday plus the full next year (2015)
  • Then it will go by years, so book 3 will be just 2016, then 2017, etc.
  • My son was born in 2016, but he will be mixed in with the rest of the scrapbooks (poor kids after the first born - they get jipped!)
Let me know if you have questions or would like to see anything close-up. Thanks for visiting!
