Paste-fully Creative - CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Hello!

Today I am participating in a fun blog hop showcasing one of CTMH's newest products: texture paste! I also played with our new shaker windows and shaker window thin cuts dies, which are equally as exciting!

You should have come from Vandra's blog, but if not, this hop goes in a circle and there are lots of Consultants participating with great ideas! So get comfy and ready to scroll, pin, and hop! :)

Halloween Cards Using a Cricut-Cut Stencil 3 Ways!

I had so much fun making these cards. I don't usually make Halloween cards but all the products are so cute and the shakers add such a fun element, so I thought it would be fun to make Halloween themed shaker cards for my kids' teachers.

This is the stencil I used for all 3 cards. I cut it just with plain cardstock using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge. CTMH also now has stencil sheets that you can use to make stencils with your Cricut, but I had already cut this a while ago. It lasted well enough for these 3 cards but then I had to throw it away. A stencil sheet would last longer.

(This is a screenshot from my process video that I recorded, but didn't have a chance to edit it before the hop, so if you come back later I'll likely have it up!)

Card #1: Texture Paste Through a Stencil

This first card is probably my favorite and is the highlight for this hop! I followed this tutorial from Jennifer McGuire for the Double Z-fold card. I used the transparent gloss texture paste that comes in the texture paste trio. I love the shiny pattern it adds to the background.

To apply the texture paste, I put it on one side of the cardstock, then dried to the touch with my heat gun. Then I lined the stencil back up and applied the paste to the other side of the cardstock. Then I let it dry on its own for a couple of hours. It is white when applied, but dries to this fun glossy finish...it looks like clear embossing!

I decorated the inside of the shaker window with stickers from the Hello Pumpkin Complements, added some silver sequin mix, black sequins from my stash, and some nectarine stars that I cut with the Shaker Window and Confetti Thin Cuts (this is a MUST-HAVE!) I used the Simply Said alphabet stamps to spell "BOO!"

Card #2: Inking With a Sponge Dauber Through a Stencil

For this next card, I used a sponge dauber with Nectarine ink to apply ink through the stencil. This was super easy, especially since the dauber is the same circle shape as the stencil I was using :) I like the tone-on-tone look of ink on cardstock.

I used more stickers from the Hello Pumpkin complements, the same sequin mix, some scraps from the Hello Pumpkin paper packet, and black shimmer trim for some extra sparkle!

Card #3: Paint or Re-inker Splatters Through a Stencil

For this next card, I wanted to try splattering color through the stencil. This technique didn't produce as pronounced a circle pattern as the last two, but it still looks cool! It is good for those who like the look of splatters but want some control over how it looks.

I used black re-inker mixed with some liquid that I squeezed out from a clear shimmer brush to create a shimmery dark gray splattered background. (There is actually a black shimmer brush now but I don't have it.) I again decorated with Hello Pumpkin complements and added "BOO!" from the Simply Said alphabet stamp set. I added more shimmer brush to the cat's eyes to make them glow.

Here's one more look at all of the cards together. Aren't the shaker cards fun? I hope you enjoyed...let me know if you have any questions.

Process Video: Turn a 1-Page Pre-cut Scrapbook Layout into 2 Pages | CTMH Memories in the Making

Hello!

Today I am sharing a 2-page scrapbook layout I made using a pre-cut 1-page kit. I only added minimal supplies to stretch the kit to work for 2 pages.

I used Layout 12 from Close to my Heart's Memories in the Making Calendar Kit, which is no longer available, but I wanted to still share this video as it has some helpful tips whether you already have this kit or not. You can use the ideas to turn any single-page kit to a 2-page layout or just as a way to make your supplies stretch further.

View the process video below or on YouTube. The first part of the video shows just the layout, then the 2nd part of the video shows how I added more photos using Pocket Plus page inserts - and some paper from the Central Park collection.

If you like my video, please SUBSCRIBE! :)

Here are some still shots without the Pocket Plus Page Protectors...

And here's what the layout looks like with the Pocket Plus pages in, which help to add so many more photos!

Here's the original layout and my layout together...
