Stacy Julian "Stories I Love" Photo & Story Pages | Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #306

Hello!
I have been working on my Stories I Love album, which is the latest kit from Stacy Julian in partnership with Close to my Heart.

I can’t express to you how much I love this kit and the idea behind it. It makes scrapbooking more approachable for so many reasons.
  • You have “permission” to document your photos out of order.
  • The kit includes everything you need to complete your stories plus an album and cover pages.
  • The simple format keeps the focus on the story so you don’t get caught up with the design, embellishments, etc.
I will do a whole video and post on this concept and the reasons why this kit is so important. But for now, I am sharing my first page with you.

I think it will speak for itself to an extent once you see how detailed my journaling is. I am so happy to have this whole story documented and the workbook in the kit really helped me pull out additional details around this photo.

I love that the sketch for AHSC was very simple this week, because it lends itself well to this simple form of scrapbooking. I used it as a jumping off point for this page.

Here's the sketch for this week. I hope you'll play along and link your project by Sunday night!

March CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - This Happened

Hello!
Welcome to the March CTMH Stamp of the Month blog hop. This month's SOTM is called This Happened. It is perfect for scrapbooking and Project Life/pocket scrapbooking. I used photos in my project, but I didn't do scrapbooking!

If you've come from Michelle's blog, you're on the right path, but this hop continues in a circle, so you can keep on going. Here is a full list of participants.

The Project

Since this set lends itself more toward scrapbooking, I tried thinking outside the box to come up with a way to use these stamps in a card. I have been meaning to send my in-laws a copy of my kids' school pictures (better late than never!), so I made this cute little diagonal pocket card to enclose them in. I used this tutorial and you can watch my video tutorial below (followed by lots of pictures!).

{Click to view larger}

I didn't think of it at the time I made this, but the Heart Happy paper and stickers I used is not available now...sorry! But the colors worked perfectly with my kids' photos!

Everything I stamped is in Candy Apple ink. I just love this perfect red color.
{Click to view larger}

I stamped the small open heart a few places - on the red diagonal pocket, on the envelope, and on the enclosure card. I also stamped a couple of other images on the front and back of the envelope.

Do you see where "remember" is in the stamp set? Wondering how I got that small part of the large image to stamp so nicely onto the heart sticker? I cut it right out of the middle of the stamp! I know some of you are probably cringing. I can always put it back in if I want to stamp it as intended, but I saw myself using it separately more often than part of the larger stamp.

{Click to view larger}

For the enclosure card, I cut the Mint xoxo paper to 3x4 and then stacked a clear acetate white frame pocket card on top (these acetate cards are on clearance right now!). The mini staples are just for looks - they wouldn't staple thru the acetate. So I stapled through the white ribbon and adhered to the acetate with a glue dot.

Side note: this is the first time I used this white ribbon and I really like it. It's a thin cotton, like muslin materials. Really soft and easy to manipulate.

I added a sticker from the Heart Happy sticker sheet on top, and then hid my adhesive behind the sticker to adhere the acetate card to the xoxo paper.

Here are some detail shots along with what it looks like when everything is tucked in to pockets, ready to go in the envelope.

I finished the card off with a few more stickers, some fun iridescent I Heart Us adhesive sequins, and silver embellishing thread.

I hope you enjoyed!

Next Up!

Now head over to Gina's blog to see what she has in store for you.

Thanks for visiting!

When I joined CTMH I Never Expected These Things to Happen! | My Story

I'm getting REAL today.

Maybe a little TOO real.

I had a hard time hitting "publish" on YouTube. Because, well, I wasn't expecting the emotions that came flooding out in this video. I didn't realize this topic would be so emotional.

Actually, I hadn't really planned much of what I was going to say. I had some ideas and kept rolling with the punches. I don't normally think well off the cuff, but when you're this passionate about something, and it's something you're MEANT to share, it just happens.

I know that this video is meant to help people. To help some special ladies (or gents) realize their passion and find their sisterhood.

If you have not found your "tribe"...I encourage you to DO IT. Whether that is with CTMH or something else. Everyone needs to find their passion and their people. The people they relate with, feel comfortable with, have things in common with.

Find it and hold on to it and never let it go!!!!

So, here's my RAW, REAL video about my story.

This is how I was introduced to stamping, DOTS, and Close to my Heart.

I'm sharing why I joined Close to my Heart, how I've made it work for me as an INTROVERT.

How I am actually getting more comfortable in front of people!

How I've grown personally and why I've stayed for over 10 years, despite my obstacles.

*You may want to grab a tissue.*

If you prefer, you can watch over on YouTube. I'd love if you subscribe while you're there :)

What Now?

Process Video: Tinsel Heat Embossed Flowers | CTMH Love Blossoms | Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge #304

Hello!

Today is my debut on the Design Team over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge blog. They always have really great sketches and I've enjoyed following their blog for a while.

For my project, I played with the Love Blossoms stamp set which is one of CTMH's specials this month. I love how versatile these beautiful flowers are. If you enjoy coloring, they look amazing colored, but I decided to leave them simple. I heat embossed them with Copper Tinsel Embossing Powder. The photos don't do it justice...it is so sparkly and beautiful.

Here are some still shots and be sure to check out my process video below.

The Sugarplum (mauve) background paper is from the Feels Like Home paper and I made a very skinny mat in Sapphire. I layered a few of the stickers and a chipboard "Hello" to complete the card and bring all the colors together.

Process Video

You can watch my process video below or in HD over on YouTube. Please be sure to subscribe to my channel! Thanks for watching :)

I hope you'll head over there and enter the challenge yourself! You have until Sunday night to link up your project. You can create anything with the sketch...card, scrapbook layout, or anything else!

Thanks for stopping by today. Happy creating!

Galentine's Day Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our blog hop!

Our Blog Hops With Heart team has taken a long break, but we're back and ready to roll. You'll want to check out each and every one of their projects because this group of ladies that I have the privilege of hopping with continually blows me away with their talent!

You may have come from Katy's blog, but if not, you can hop around in a circle. We are a small but mighty group...you'll be sure to get a large dose of inspiration in a short amount of time!

This month's theme is Galentine's Day - a day to celebrate the friends we love. I just found out a couple of weeks ago that this is actually considered a holiday now. I love that!! And I love that the idea originated from one of my favorite shows, Parks & Recreation.

The Projects

I love to send thank-you cards. I am horrible about sending birthday cards (just ask my family...oops!) but I do send thank-you cards to my friends, family, and customers.

So here are some cards that I made for my friends for Galentine's Day/Valentine's day to tell them thanks for all they do and I love them!

These cards are simple yet look so impressive with that awesome gold foil! I used the retired Picture My Life cards from CTMH called Beautiful You. I added a few embellishments and a "thanks" sentiment that I cut with my Cricut from the Artiste Cricut collection.

I love using Picture My Life (like Project Life) pocket scrapbooking cards for making greeting cards. They already come pre-printed with super cute designs and are sized at 4x6 and 3x4 so there's minimal to no trimming for cards. Just add some paper scraps and a few embellishments...BOOM! Easy peasy, cute card.

Even though the cards I used are retired, there are new ones available with every catalog. And this gold foil set on clearance now.

See current Picture My Life cards >

Thanks for visiting today!

Next in the hop is Stephanie. She's sure to knock your socks off, and rumor has it she even included one of her awesome videos. Plus today is her birthday so be sure to wish her a happy birthday!!! :)

Kids Shaker Valentines for Kindergarten Class | How-To Video

Hello!

I am so excited to share my five-year-old daughter's class valentines with you. She had a BLAST making these. All weekend whenever we had downtime at home she said "Mommy, can we work on my valentines?"

I'll be honest, I cringed and held my breath many times while she worked with glitter and sequins. When we were finished, there were sequins all over the floor under her. And glitter all over the desk. But nothing a little vacuuming and baby wipes can't handle, right? She had a blast, that's what's important. Although I did inform her we aren't going to work with glitter for a while. LOL.

Here is a video where I explained how we made these shakers and included some process clips of my daughter and I working on them. (Click over to YouTube to watch in HD.) There are more photos below the video.

If you enjoy papercrafting videos, I'd love if you subscribe to my channel! I add new videos 1-3 times per week, mostly card and scrapbook process videos.

This project doesn't just have to be for kids! You can use these instructions to make something yourself. But if you have kids who love to craft, they are sure to love making these shaker valentines!
